So there I was, zooming down Highway 1 on my way back to teaching. My driver’s side window was cracked two inches providing that always necessary freshness. Musiqsoulchild graced the airwaves with my new favorite song “Medicine.” Meanwhile, my mind raced, full of all the ‘needs’ I have before me that could use some fulfilling. As is typically the case with these types of thought patterns, the pace quickened, and the drama increased. And just when it seemed to be reaching it’s ugly climax, a bug/pebble managed to squeeze through those two inches of freshness and plunk me in the head just as Musiq sang the breakdown in the song “Breeeeathe..Breeeeathe!” Quite the Divine message
For those of you who don’t know, I was named the head coach of the varsity boys basketball team at Harbor High School here in Santa Cruz back in May. From the day we showed up and got a glance at what we were working with we knew we had our work cut out for…
As fate would have it, I received a phone call a few weeks ago from the principal at Santa Cruz High. Although I’ve done a good bit of teaching over there, summer was on the horizon and I couldn’t quite place why she’d be reaching out at this particular time. It didn’t take long for…

As basketball season draws near the anticipation is building not only for myself, but my staff as well. In less than a month, we will be leaving our stamp on the personalities and spirits of 25-30 young men in a fashion that will never be forgotten. To this day, I have a myriad of memories…
Here’s a little something my mother wrote recently. Powerful enough to share. Certainly good food for thought. Waiting To Be SavedThe Temptations had it right when they sang their hit song, Ball ofConfusion in 1970. Now, 40 some years later, those old lyrics still holdtrue. It is amazing that in all the years since that…
I recently reached out to everyone I build with via email with a life update detailing some of the beautiful events that have aligned for me of later. In return, I asked them to fill me in on what’s been going on with them. A good friend of mine Shux Wun who has been in Japan…
I apologize for the lack of consistency in writing this past few months. All I can say is, there are times to write about life…and times to simply live it. And I’ve been doing a good amount of living of late. I’m a do my best to catch you’s up with the latest greatest. But…
